Sony Betamax Hi-Fi VCR model SL-HF500. Introduced in September of 1984 with a price tag of $800. Silver and Black version of the SL-HF300. Features, front display which displays clock, counter, channels, and tape indicators, 7-day, 6-event timer, tape window, headphone jack with level control, wireless remote, and both right/left VU meters. Same era when electronics, became more popular in black color instead of silver. This model was available in Black and Silver colors.

The SL-HF500 can record and play regular Betahi-fi in the BII and BIII speeds. It can also play the regular BI speed. Tapes recorded in monaural will also play in the SL-HF500. Tapes recorded in SuperBeta BI, BII and BIII will play but might exhibit picture noise.
