Hard To Find Vintage 1934 AZO Stamp Box Real Picture Postcard ( RPPC ) Bill Smith/Boshkung Bill in Canoe (Pride of Peterborough) with Sail on first Leg to London England by Canoe
In1934 Bill Smith also referred to as "Boshkung Bill" an Aboriginal Gentleman residing North of Peterborough Ontario decided he would travel to London England by a 16 foot Open Canoe with provisions to send Greetings to the King of England. This was the first attempt for someone to do this type of voyage
Despite numerous attempts by others to get him to give up this voyage due to Safety Concerns he set out from Little Lake in Peterborough
A Bulletin Board was set up in Peterborough charting his progress through Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River until he disappeared a few weeks later.
Somewhere off the Gaspe Peninsula on his way To Newfoundland an Atlantic Storm hit and Smith and his canoe disappeared from sight. Shortly after Smith and pieces of his canoe washed up on various beaches along the shoreline
The RPPC Has some wear on the corners and edges. Some ink lines on the Card. It Is Unused
