Simple fort that looks soooooo cool.
One original Pastoe wire chair available for purchase! The SM05 chair was designed in 1958 by dutch designers Cees Braakman and Adriaan Dekker. Like a lot of the mid-century modern design, this chair is a symbol of the cool, sleek, Avant-guard designs of that time. With the unconventional use of metal, this rebellious chair was meant to reflect a new post-war modern era. The wire chairs became popular after Charles and Ray Eames introduced a similar version in 1951 as well as Harry Bertoia in 1952.
This original 1958 Pastoe chair may have been repainted, but the leather cushion is original. The chair is in great condition. There is a bit of rust on the metal snaps of the seat cushion and three littles holes on the cushion. Notice the wire grid is welded under the frame contour unlike furniture replicas today. The chair measures 80x58x62cm.

Teaked fun facts - Did you know? The SM05 wire chair was created by Dutch designers Cees Braakman (head of design) and Adriaan Dekker in 1958. They both worked for the Dutch pany Pastoe (Which still exists today!). Like the Eames and Harry Bertoia, this was one of the first chairs made entirely of steel wire. Genius! Since materials were in short supply after WWII, designers really got creative during the mid-century. The original chairs were discontinued but relunched in 2015 by panies.
