Historical character's names have been changed and the setting has been moved to an exciting land called Marus—the creators of "Passages" use this fictional re-representation as a new and creative way to engage young readers with traditional Bible stories as if for the first time—because over-familiarity often dulls the impact of frequently told tales.
Intentionally choosing the style of "The Chronicles of Narnia", a series born out of C.S. Lewis's understanding that fantasy can be a good tool municating gospel truths - noting that "by casting all these things into an imaginary world, striping them of their stained-glass and Sunday School associations, one could make them re-appear in their real potency".
