It's hard to believe that anyone as inherently uncool as Neil Sedaka could have co-written "Puppet Man." The 5th Dimension turn it into a righteous slice of sunshine soul & set the bar high for the remaining cuts on "Portrait". Marilyn Davis does a gorgeous job on the Bacharach-David ballad "One Less Bell to Answer". The "1 less egg to fry" line is 1 of those throwaway, quasi-poetic bits that can blow a kid's mind at an age when they start paying attention to lyrics :) This classic album features the wonderful cover art from the late Mr. Leroy Neiman. Those beautiful colors meshed together like that to make up their Portrait is just awesome! Open up the album cover & there's 8 sketches of them live in studio recording & the back cover is light blue with 1 sketch atop. (EX/EX) Thanks for looking.
