Thau’s Cdn mcm atomic metal floor lamp 2 fibreglass shades 1950s

Description: A beautiful mid-century modern (mcm) atomic age metal floor lamp, with 2 arm light fixtures, made by Thau’s Lamp Mfg. Co. in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The lower light’s position can be adjusted, which is useful for reading. The upper light fixture is fixed in place. Visible wiring appears to be original, as well as the light bulb sockets. Cast steel base with 4 feet. Metal is mainly painted black, with interiors of the decorative metallic “grass blades”, mounted to the top of the switch, being painted white. Brass coloured metal highlights. Switch allows one or two lights on at a time.
The upper lampshade is oval and 2 tiered, while the lower one is round and one tiered. Both shades have laced / whip stitching. These shades are highly sought after. For example just one two-tier fiberglass drum shade can fetch $250.

Dimensions (estimates): 70” High x 32” Wide x 14” Deep
Condition: Excellent vintage condition ( 9 / 10 ). Minor scratches to black paint on top of metal base, and side of light switch. Fully functional and both light fixtures work well. Structurally sound, and no looseness in hardware connections.
Asking price: $695 Comparables: the exact same lamp is listed at C $850 in an on-line ad.
