Here’s a great audio test/design setup… especially for us geeks with limited bench space. Let’s start with the frame, a Tektronix TM515 portable 5 slot frame with BOTH front and rear covers AND the tilt bail, which you won’t find very often on used TM5015’s. This frame is in very good condition. The rear cover also has the folding pocket for storing test cables and misc tools.
The plement is a SC502 15MHz dual trace o’scope. Plenty of brightness and exceptional focus. The FG501A 1MHz function generator with square, triangle, and sine wave output, external trigger output and external trigger input, symmetry adjust and 4 step switched attenuation as well as output level control. Next is the DC503A counter, very versatile with functions galore and 2 channel input. Does time, period, frequency plus many other functions and allows you to select from many averages. These counters are over the top, really. Finally, the PS503A power supply plug-in that gives you variable +/- 0VDC to +/- 20VDC independent or tracking mode selectable with adjustable current limiting. In the TM515 frame the bipolar voltage will output up to 400ma per pole. It will output up to 1 amp per pole if used in a TM504 or TM506 frame. It also has a fixed independent 5VDC output. Perfect for designing op amp circuits with digital control.
Check out the photos. All manuals are available online and can be downloaded in PDF form absolutely free of hassle and without charge. Tektronix did a great job with the TM series. These modules are very serviceable and last for years in severe service. That’s why military contractors specify TEK gear for their requirements. I’ve babied this setup but no longer require it as I’m up to my eyeballs in gear and this portable setup is now surplus to my needs.
