The kit code is SR522EAFSBKM from the 2005 Tama catalog, but there were ponents added for Kenny’s rider that vary slightly from the catalog kit. The kit is 100% birch BD 7mm -7ply TT/FT 6mm -6ply SD8MM - 8ply The Starclassic Performer bines the great tone of thin birch shells with the added projection and slightly darker tone of covered finishes. Tama's Duracover finishes are affixed with a high pressure rolling technique that ensures the covering vibrates uniformly with the shell. Theres absolutely promise to the original full bodied birch sound. 20 Years ago birch kits were more popular than maple. A large number of pro players prefer the sound of birch and many more are discovering birch's round slightly darker sound and amazing projection. This kit is very loud when you need it to be and great for on stage or studio work. Subtlety can be captured due to the birch construction. This kit offers incredible resonance and clarity that rivals some of the best Maple kits ever made and with advances at Tama Drum construction, at a price you'd pay for an intermediate kit.
