First, full disclosure is necessary as to what's missing. Ready? On this glorious 38-track, double-CD collection, there isn't one track from T. Rex's Electric Warrior. That's right, "Bang a Gong," "Mambo Sun," and "Jeepster" are all absent. Why? Simple: it appears Warner is recalcitrant to license that wondrous album to anyone in any form. It turns out that this is simply a plaint because none of the tracks from Electric Warrior should be separated from its full corpus anyway -- it is an album in the purest and more literal sense of the world. Getting to what is here, listeners do get tracks from that beautiful slab The Slider as well as Tanx, Light of Love , Bolan's Zip Gun, Dandy in the Underworld, Futuristic Dragon, and a slew of 45s never issued on LP. If you are looking for "Sunken Rags," it's here; if you need "Mad Donna," it's also here. So are "Metal Guru," "Telegram Sam," "Solid Gold Easy Action," "Children of the Revolution," "Baby Strange," "20th Century Boy," "Satisfaction Pony," and "Born to Boogie." Right, it's packed with nary a dolt in the whole mess. While much of this -- in fact all of it -- has piled in other places, this one's remastered sound takes precedence over the rest of the lot. If you are enough of a Marc Bolan freak to want a T. Rex orgy once in a while and don't need all the studio LPs, but you're not a pletist, then pick this one up, add to it that remastered version of Electric Warrior, and you will have a listening -- or party -- experience of thoroughly unexpected results at your disposal. T. Rex est un groupe de rock britannique créé à la fin des années 1960 à Londres par le chanteur Marc Bolan. Tout d'abord nommé Tyrannosaurus Rex, le nom est raccourci en 1970 pour coïncider avec un changement de style dans la musique du groupe : il passe d'un folk expérimental à un rock plus électrique qui va tout de suite séduire un large public au Royaume-Uni. Avec les morceaux Ride a White Swan, Hot Love et Get It On, T. Rex se hisse en tête des ventes en Grande-Bretagne et annonce l'avènement du glam rock.
Les albums Electric Warrior et The Slider, parus respectivement en 1971 et 1972, rencontrent un succès de masse : la T. Rexmania devient le premier phénomène musical à atteindre une telle ampleur en Grande-Bretagne depuis la séparation des Beatles. Les disques du groupe sont produits par Tony Visconti qui collabore aussi durant la même période avec un autre musicien glam-rock, David Bowie. (Wikipedia).
