Sony Walkman mp3 won't charge

Got this from a family member who never used it, model nwz-w262. It is in pristine condition, but, won't charge. It talks to puter fine, the software interface is on the player and installs/runs on Windows 11 through the charging cable, you can drag music onto it. These are waterproof and the reviews from 2011 say the audio is great. I would love to know that this will be used not e waste. If you are willing, batteries seem to run $25 on Amazon. If you are up to that, make me an offer, I am flexible on price even at this low level...
