- This beautiful jewellery set was handcrafted in Italy and is hallmarked as such. - The set consists of a pendant and ring with approximately the same size of gemstone -- each is at least 5 carats or more. - The gem is beautiful smoky quartz, but it is an unusual colour for smoky stones. It's closer to a pale golden brown than a deep brown hue that mon for most smoky gemstones. - The most special feature of these pieces is that both large stones are checkerboard faceted -- that means that the entire surface of the gemstone has facets -- each of which throws off light, sparkle, and brilliance. - Both the pendant and the ring are surrounded by a halo of white zircon gemstones which also has tremendous sparkle. Please note that white zircon has nothing to do with cubic zirconia -- which is a diamond simulant. - White zircon is a valuable, mined gemstone that has almost as much sparkle as diamond and is often substituted when diamond sparkle is desired. Designers often try to design pieces less inexpensively and use white topaz instead of the more pricey white zircon. But white topaz doesn'e close to the sparkle that white zircon offers. - The Italian chain on the pendant is 18 inches long and the smoky quartz pendant including bale is more than an inch long. The stone on the chain is a beautiful pear shaped drop. - The smoky gemstone on the ring can be described as a "chubby" pear shape -- again, surrounded by sparkling white zircon. - The ring size is approximately 9 1/2 -- sized to fit on my middle finger, but I never had an opportunity to wear either piece. - The final very special feature of these two large stones is that they have virtually no inclusions.
