A SENIOR member of a team that maintains and administers an enterprise IT network, supporting more than 150 Windows and Linux servers, and 5000 users. Implements identity management, access control, and group policy using Active Directory / Microsoft 365 and Linux platforms. Performs secure server configuration and hardening, measuring against industry standard best practices and security baselines. Assists with planning and design processes with regards to virtualization, puting, and physical server resources. Contributes to continuous process improvement and automation.

Responsibilities
Systems Administration (45%):
•Provide detailed reports to Manager on system configuration and status to meet risk assessment, planning and procurement requirements.
•Work with colleagues and other resources to help:
odesign system architecture,
odesign, maintain, and support cybersecurity practices,
odesign, maintain, and support identity management practices,
oinstall and maintain servers, storage and backup hardware and software,
oadminister Microsoft 365,
omonitor systems for security, performance, and reliability,
oadminister accounts on various systems (e.g. Unix, Windows, Colleague), and
oadminister backups and backup software, ensuring system restore requirements are met.
oadminister file and print services.
•Document system configuration to recognized international standard.
•Document processes and procedures.
•Oversees the physical infrastructure of the data centre. This includes server/storage hardware, racks, cabling, power and cooling.
•Work within Change Management framework, writing Requests for Change municating with Change Advisory Board.
•Work within Project Management Framework, developing Project Charters and other documents.
•Identify and resolve system issues as necessary to prevent or recover from interruptions using the IT Service Management system to record progress and document solutions.

Knowledge Maintenance (10%):
•Maintain awareness of industry best practices; liaise with vendors and other third-party providers to as required to stay current with evolving technology, software revisions, bug fixes, and to obtain product information.
•Receive and manage confidential, personal, and proprietary information using sound judgment to remain pliance with all university policies and privacy legislation.
•Act as a backup resource person in other areas of Technology Services in the absence of colleagues.

Qualifications
Computer Science or an bination of another bined with relevant IT training and experience.
MINIMUM 5 years of Experience in:
•Microsoft Windows Server administration skills are required, including:
oBuilding servers from scratch and virtualization
oActive Directory User, Group, Policy management
oAD design
oAzure AD administration
oLicense assignments
oStorage management
oAccess management
oPowerShell, C#, VB Programming
•Microsoft 365 Administration
oUser administration
oApplication administration, including MS Teams and SharePoint
oAutomation tools
•MS SQL Server administration.
•Linux server administration skills are an asset but can be developed on the job.
•VMware deployment, maintenance, and server administration.
•TCP/IP Networking knowledge:
oFundamentals of TCPIP
oDHCP, DNS & Host Administration
oEmail Administration
•Cybersecurity practices.
•Certifications in any of the above is an asset.
•Good verbal and munications.
•Must manage multiple priorities, while maintaining relationships with technology users.
•Can plex problems working with others.

Summary
Organization involves critical decision-making and may include modification of plans, procedures, schedules, and goals to meet objectives. This type of organization may be required to meet objectives under strict time constraints

The job requires flexibility in work scheduling. Although the position has no official “on call” periods, the incumbent is expected to respond after hours to troubleshoot server problems or address environmental issues in the Datacentre. Frequently, this position is required to perform work in the Operations Window which is either early mornings, late evenings, or weekends
