Undercoating involves spraying a black, tar-like substance on the floor pans, wheel wells, and other exposed parts of the underbody of your car, which then hardens and acts as a permanent shield against moisture, salt, and other elements.
Rubberized based undercoating is better suited for newer vehicles. The rubberized coating creates a barrier between the vehicle and the elements. Oil based coating is preferential for older vehicles as it will penetrate any rust to the good metal creating a solid barrier
