I have two rooms, one being used for storage. I clicked 'no' for if the room is furnished because I don't have much. There's a bed, there's a night stand available, a desk, but no dresser. So it's semi-furnished, I suppose. There's actually a bed in both rooms though one doesn't have a frame and is a pair of mattresses on the floor.

First things out of the way I suppose; going through a separation though thankfully it's going peacefully, she's currently back in her home country with family. She basically did all the cleaning, and I just can't be arsed. If you tend to require a nice, clean home then well I guess you'll be doing the cleaning to maintain that standard.

I don't like doing dishes, but at the same time I don't tend to leave many in the sink. I basically clean as I go, might leave a dish or two to soak in the sink for a bit to make the actual scrubbing easier but besides that I do my best to keep the sink empty and would hope the person who rents a room from me will do likewise. I use the sink often to fill my Brita pitcher, used to just drink tapwater but the ex had gotten me on filtering my water and I stuck with it. So yeah, need enough room in the sink to lower the pitcher in there to fill 'er up.

She's an old house, landlord says something like 100 years old, and said landlord lives very close by. This isn't a party house, things won't get loud and there will not be any stomping or conflicts or booming loud music. Having friends over for drinks is fine but don't get rowdy especially not at a late hour. There's laundry machines but generally they're only used between 10AM-8PM or so. Laundry machines tend to make noise, after all, and I'm a very quiet individual. I'm a full-time writer who works from home, most of the time I'm in my study on puter. I'm so quiet, in fact, that my landlord's partner had joked that at times she wonders if I even still live here lol I'm a big fellow, but I'm pretty good at keeping things nice and peaceful and quiet.

Another thing about the place being old, black mold can build up on occasion so if you're gonna be staying for a while, you may find a patch of mold in a corner or on the ceiling. There's lots of different recipes and methods online for tending to mold, last time around I used a mixture of baking soda, vinegar, and water. Worked pretty darn good, and besides occasionally cleaning a dish I've used it's pretty much the only cleaning I tend to do, however I don't offer maid service and will not clean your room for you. If you have some stuff I can help you move in, that's what I did for the last two individuals who rented a room from me with the last gentleman being quite pleasant and agreeable.

Speaking of, the former guy renting a room for me is back home in another province with his family and kids and what not, but has some stuff left here and tells me he'll be returning to the island sometime. So he can pick up his things when es back, or depending on circumstances and what the person who moves in thinks, he can take one of my rooms available. With three people contributing to rent and bills, expenses would be PARTICULARLY low.

Speaking of expenses, same arrangement as the previous tenant who moved in. $500 rent, half of the electric bill, and half of the internet bill. The first person who moved in had refused to pay her half of one or both bills so what we may do is put down $60 for the electric bill and then once I get the actual bill at the end of the month, either you send me any more that needs to be covered from your half or if the bill is under $120 then I'll give you some of the $60 back and then going forward you'll pay me the rent, electric bill, and internet bill at the end of every month.

Internet tends to be around $75 or so, and during winter the electric bill lately has been around $120, I think it was almost exactly that last month, so you can anticipate something along the lines of $500 + $35 will do for internet and an estimated $60 for the electric bill resulting in $595, so yeah around $600 per month but as the temperatures warm with spring approaching the electric bill will inevitably decrease so over the summer it could be more like $575.

So, I think you get the gist of it. Peaceful, quiet, no parties, this isn't a 5-star hotel so don't expect the place to be spotless, I don't offer maid service nor am I your butler or servant, don't fill the sink with dishes and you may find patches of mold in your room and if so then you'll have to clean that yourself just as I had done recently in my study.

Ah yes, pets, well if it's a cat then that should be just fine. If it's a dog, well I love dogs but the most important thing is to keep the peace. That involves no hyper-yappy small dogs or large beasts that appear to be half-bear rampaging through the halls lol So when e to check the place out, bring your pet or at least an image of it. Be sure to be truthful, because if you move in and your pet turns out to be bothersome to the landlord then you may have at most just a one-month stay so really it's ideal to be up-front about everything so that we can ensure that if you're selected, you'll be good to stay pretty much as long as you like.

The last fellow who stayed at this residence was here for about 4.5 or 5.5 months, unfortunately the woman employing him had recently begun stiffing him on his payment and things were getting rocky back at home with the family thus he moved out somewhat suddenly a week ago. I'd be happy to have him back, and hopefully whoever is next to move in won't take issue with him potentially moving back in. Hey, it'd mean a decrease in rent and the electric/internet bills being split into thirds!

So yeah, if you can jive with all that, message me and we'll see to arranging a meet-up. If you think you'll plaining to me about the place being 'not clean enough' like the woman who had moved in before, then this isn't the place for you. Like Gandhi said, "Be the change that you want to see in the world," so if something isn't clean enough to your liking then clean it.

Okay, just added the photos, they're from about September-October or so. Oh yeah, and there's a bus stop just around the corner, the house is a short walk from a park, and it's a peaceful neighborhood with a lovely family living next door. Frankly, regardless of the mold, I regard this as the best place I've ever lived. Great spot for a writer. Been here for over a year, the landlord is stern and no-nonsense but has been good to me. If you prove to be a pleasant person who doesn't get rowdy and keeps the peace, he'll warm to you as well.

P.S. Ah yes, I forgot, smoking. I myself have the occasional toke from time to time, probably most often not long before bed. Ideally, any and all smoking is done outside, certainly for tobacco which can stain and leave a smell that sticks around. For a hit of pot, I get fairly strong stuff and I think my tolerance is pretty low since i don't toke often so just one puff is enough for me, then I blow it directly outside from a door or window. Winter can get pretty darn cold, after all, but yeah if you're going to smoke a cigarette or something that's best done outside as it seems to cause lasting odors and can stain.
