Red Wiggler Worms Compost starter kit

Please note: Besides my regular ad (below) I have a temporary offer, due to a booming population of my "pedigree" red wigglers. If you are interested in giving your new bin a big head start I will supply a second bag of worms for half the price of a kit - that's an additional $20 for twice the number of worms. Starting with double the worms will not only speed your bin's production but also make the new colony less sensitive to slight imbalances that promise the worms' survival.
I started my population using just a few very healthy and active red wigglers (no invasive species) and with patience and time have grown a large population of the same. I am the proud supplier of the worms for the Ottawa Experimental Farm's public educational display; and in the past 7 years I have helped hundreds of people, from all over Ontario, start their own worm bins; supplying the worms and information to get them going and keep them successful with ongoing support. I'm flattered that my original approach to a healthy bin start, with the inclusion of the worms' current environment, has been replicated. It really is a much more efficient and successful method of starting a bin as opposed to purchasing worms alone, by weight (despite the larger numbers).
I will continue to offer a handful of concentrated worms with the density as shown in the picture of my own worms - one bag for $40 (or my temporary offer of 2 bags for $60) and the remainder of each medium Ziplock freezer bag filled with a (measured) litre from my bins containing more worms but mostly with their food and unhatched eggs and babies, in their current environment; with enough air space for safe transport. I don't separate and weigh them but I feel this is better than buying worms alone. It has enough food to keep them alive, active, breeding and hatching for weeks and all the bacteria needed to inoculate a new bin. It's basically a "bin in a bag" so there is no risk of introducing your worms into an environment that is pletely suitable from the start. I will also supply a baggie with some sand, for grit (needed for digestion), and a bag of crosscut shredded newspaper and/or cardboard and/or crushed dried leaves (excellent worm bedding & enough for at least a month). All you need is a container, with breathing holes, to start your bin today.
