Hello, My name is Leonela. I have been in Canada since 2018. I am from the Dominican Republic. Before I came to Canada I used to help my family take care of my Grandmother, who lived until the wonderful age of 113. Since arriving in Canada I have also helped to take care of my elderly in-laws. Unfortunately, we lost my father-in-law last year at age 95, and my mother-in-law needed to move into a CHSLD. I now find that I have some extra time available and I love working with seniors. I am presently taking Part Time English classes to improve my English, (which is not so great). I find that spending time as panion to a senior is also great practice for my English, and we have a lot of laughs as I help them with their daily routine, taking walks etc, and they correct my mistakes in English. I love it. I do not have a car and I would really like to work with someone that lives either within walking distance of my house in Baie D'Urfe, but would also consider in Ste Anne de Bellevue, or Beaconsfield South of Highway 20. Occasional help for a senior 1 to 3 days per week, on an "as needed, -part-time basis". I am not the best candidate if you are looking for someone that is always available on the same days per week - every week. Think of me more as you would think of calling in a Babysitter, but for a senior :) I mention all this because I know how important it is to be able to establish a routine for homecare for loved ones, and any informal caregiver must be reliable, punctual, municative, when es to scheduling. I do not have any formal training or degrees in Nursing or Geriatric care, so unfortunately, I cannot help with medical care that requires this type of formal certification, but I am a very caring and attentive person, fortable assisting in everything from walking to eating, standing and sitting, cooking, tidying, exercising and anything else that may be on your "wish list" for your loved one.
