WHY CHOOSE PADDLE CANADA Courses?
Paddle Canada sets national standards for instruction and certification for recreational paddling: canoe, kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP). Every year, nearly 2200 Paddle Canada certified instructors deliver sanctioned courses to more than 10,000 paddlers across Canada. Paddle Canada certifications are nationally accredited and internationally recognized.
Whether you have been kayaking for a few years or are just beginning, you will learn some valuable skills and techniques in this 2 day course. A wetsuit is mended for this course but not necessary.
Skills Covered: Forward, Reverse and Sweep Strokes, Support and Recovery Strokes, Wet Exiting, Contact Towing, Basic Self Rescue and Partner Rescues, Lifting and Carrying
Topics Covered: Coast Guard Requirements, Navigation, Boat Fit, Paddles, Rescue Equipment, Paddling Equipment.
Appropriate boats should be a minimum of 13ft long with both a front and back storage hatch. Sea Kayaks are available for rental for $75 for the duration of the course.
The location will either be Irishtown Nature Park or in the Shediac Area. Course dates are May 20/21st and again on June 10/11th
