Original painting by PEI artist Helen M. Haszard- RARE EXAMPLE

This is beautiful watercolour depicts the Lake of Shining Waters at Cavendish, ca.1930s. It is an original artwork by Prince Edward Island artist, Helen M. Haszard. This is one of the largest Haszard works known to exist. The sight size is approximately 26.5"x10.5", and framed it is 33"x17". Most of Haszard's works were much smaller, as she was known for producing paintings sized for the tourist market, often as small as 3"x6" . This painting that has been newly framed with acid free matting, and UV protection, low-glare glass, is priced at $2500.00, which is a very good price considering some of those smaller works have sold for as much as $700.00, even $800.00. Miss Haszard was born at Hillsborough Square, attended Prince Street School, graduating in 1900 having won many prizes thoughout her school years. She studied under Mother St Margaret, the art teacher at Notre Dame Convent. In 1912 and 1913 she studied at Boston Art School and briefly in Ontario with JW Beatty. By 1914, she was back in PEI, where she continued developing her own style all the while hosting art classes in Charlottetown. Then in the 1920s and 30s, she lived in Toronto, returning to the Island each summer to paint and to sell her paintings to tourists in the Cavendish area.
