Same famous DAC as most 1989-1995 production Denon CD players; Different processing of course, but still a superb sounding machine.
This classic early 90's multi-bit Nikko model is well known for sweet sound; much sweeter sounding than later production 1-bit CD players. The musicality is top notch. Hearing is believing.

Historical background:
Nikko Audio was a division of the Japanese pany Nikko Electric Industry Co, which was formed in 1933 in Kanagawa. pany's ponents earned a good reputation, but the brand had limited distribution and during a general decline in the market in the 90's, the division was forced to close. Some of the amplifiers made under Nikko brand (Alpha 450, Alpha 650) remain hard to beat, regardless of price, once restored. Look them up, just for fun.
