Krug mcm hardwood buffet hutch 2 glass doors 1 drawer 2 wood doors Description: Built in Canada by Krug - a fine example of mid-century modern (mcm) Canadian craftsmanship, made c1960s. The H. Krug Furniture Company of Kitchener, Ontario, is one of Canada's oldest furniture makers - started in 1880 and they were well known for producing excellent quality furniture. The bulk of this piece is made of solid hardwood, with the exterior pieces in blond amber toned ash birch. In the upper cabinet (hutch), there are 3 shelves, all of which have 2 dish display grooves on their rears. There are 2 sliding glass doors covering this section. In the bottom buffet sideboard area, there is a top drawer, and a cabinet with 2 sliding wood doors. Inside the cabinet is one shelf. The drawer has excellent dovetail joinery on front faces. Drawer made of solid sawn wood, except for plywood on drawer bottoms. Legs are squared and tapered, and can be easily removed, for ease of transport. Beautiful ash grain. Over the past 15 years, ash wood has e rarer in North America due to the Emerald Ash Borer. Brand on inside of middle drawer: Krug Furniture since 1886 Paper tag stapled to back: Krug Bros. Co. Ltd.; Article 3204-3 Amber; Trimmed by no. 120 Stamp number on back: 3204-3 Condition: Structurally sound and very solidly built. Well designed. This piece can be refinished multiples times as its exterior is made of solid wood – no thin veneer to worry about. All joinery is tight. No water rings or damage. From a non-smoking household.
