JADE SOARING BIRD BY LYLE SOPEL CANADIAN CARVER GLOSS & ROUGH NEPHRITE This is an exquisite carving by famed Canadian carver Lyle Sopel. The sculpture is in excellent condition, no damage, just the expected lines and textures that are characteristic with jade. It was carved from Nephrite Canadian Jade. The piece stands about 6.5 inches tall (to the highest point on the carving) and the eagle has a wingspan of about 5 inches.
The base is both gloss and rough stone for a beautiful contrast of texture. Delicate eagle wing carved in graceful flight.
You will want to do a Google search for "Lyle Sopel". His gallery site is well worth a visit. There is a link there to email him and ask for a user name and password to visit many pictures of his carvings. You will also want to visit Canada House Gallery and look under artist Lyle Sopel for pictures and prices of some of his work.
