Our client is looking to hiring a General Accountant to their growing team! A large government run organization based in downtown Toronto. Our client has an initial 3 month contract to start, with a very high chance to convert the General Accountant into a full time permanent member of their growing team. This role is hybrid, 2 days on-site and 3 days work from home. The client is unionized and the working hours per week is 35 hours. We are looking for someone to start ASAP!

Responsibilities
- Provides timely and accurate month-end and year-end support related to regular financial cycles.
- Responsible for the “procure to pay” process in Vendor Invoice Management (VIM), processing invoices and verifying accurate and on time payments to vendors.
- Preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance/ gap analysis.

Qualifications
- 3 years minimum experience working as a general accountant
- Strong Excel (pivot table, VLOOKUP) and reporting writing skills
- Bachelor’s/ Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce
