Description: Fabulous modern style folding armless hardwood (ash?) {frene} chair {chaise} with woven rope cord seat and back. You will be impressed with the intricately woven synthetic (nylon?) cord and the patina of the light wood {bois} finish. Sturdy brass coloured metal hardware. Relatively light-weight.
In the style of the designer Hans Wegner, this fine cord / rope folding lounge chair exhibits remarkable craftsmanship, precisely organic form with original woven seat and back. The beautifully angled form is fortable which plemented by the thick cording.
This mid-century modern (mcm) chair is the answer to the unexpected dinner guest or extra seating anywhere in your home or office. It would add an element of elegance to any room. Would go great with any decor, modern, traditional, bohemian, or eclectic. Folds up to save space when not in use, and can fit under a bed or in a closet. Perfect for use as an accent chair in the living room, bedroom or office.
Hans Wegner mid-century modern influenced style. Similar chairs were made in Denmark, Italy and Mexico (after Clara Porset). The classic folding chair was originally designed by Hans Wegner in 1949.
Built in Yugoslavia (Eastern European) pre-1992, likely in c1980s. Yugoslavia broke up in January 1992, after the break-up of the USSR.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition (9.5 / 10). Minor dings and scratches to the wood, mainly on lower legs. From a non-smoking house. Sturdily built and structurally sound. Retains clean, original, tight weaving, fortable and supportive. Frame is sturdy and strong. Open and close easily and well. No water marks. The cord is in perfect condition.
