Minimum 1 heaping tsp in a plastic container (usually more) for free (details below under FREEBIE). If you prefer to pay or pick up, there are two pricing tiers, depending on the time it takes to fulfill your order. In tier 1 you can pay $5 for min 1 tsp provided municate succinctly, $10 otherwise. The first two photos show 1-6 tsps grains mailed while the next shows the grains in the styro container (suitable for pick-up or personal delivery). The last photo depicts the meeting location.

Kefir, aka Kefyr, Tibetan Milk Mushroom or Bulgaros, is similar to yogurt, but much better in providing probiotics (far more beneficial bacteria). It makes your tummy happy! It is very popular and you can find numerous videos such as explaining how to go about making it. Some studies show that kefir alone (yogurt, though similar, is much weaker) can provide sufficient probiotics to fortify the immune system and even improve mood and metabolism. (I am not providing the drink but rather what you add to milk or water to make it.) These grains may be converted to water grains or SCOBY (for Kombucha) but the reverse is not true. I provide them with organic cow milk in a Ziploc bag, styrofoam cup with a lid or equivalent, depending on quantity desired and delivery method.

QUANTITY I do not measure the quantity exactly. I generally add a minimum 2 heaping teaspoons of grains and a bit of fresh milk. I guarantee a minimum of 1 teaspoon of grains, but usually I give away 1-2 tablespoons. Either way, the grains will multiply quickly as they are alive and very reactive. Past recipients were pleasantly surprised at the quantity. I do not guarantee larger quantities in the event I get too many orders and I do not have the time to update my ads often.

RECOMMENDED USE Add milk 10 to 1 by volume and keep at room temperature, in a covered (but not fully closed) container for 24 hours, then filter out the grains and repeat. You may then add some fruit for flavoring in a second fermentation of a few hours and control the fizz by how tightly you close the container. The Russian method involves inoculating the kefir from the first fermentation with milk at 1-3% ratio for 18h or so; it allows scaling up results with few grains when starting and also increases ethanol (alcohol) content up to 1% or so.

PICKUP I can meet you in the SE corner of King St W and University Ave (145 King St W, ground level, outdoor w/o mask if nice weather, inside Concourse Entrance with face mask if bad weather). Unless otherwise noted, I will wear a green bike helmet for easy recognition. Please see the linked page below for photos and more details on the meeting place. I prefer 9-9:30am, 3-4pm or 8-9pm and can wait a maximum of 15 minutes. For munication, please reply directly with the time you would like to meet. I find it best to set the time 1 day in advance and reconfirm a few hours prior to the meeting by text.

SHIPPING I could ship an envelope of the Ziploc bag with minimum 1tsp of grains and fresh milk packaged in some protective cardboard (see the last two photos) using regular mail at my expense as long as you follow the procedure in the linked page. REORDER If you paid, you can reorder for free using the contact form on my website for up to a year. This is useful so that you can recover from accidents (e.g., your grains might not survive a longer trip away from home). If you get a free order, you cannot re-order for free for another 2 years.
