In 1983, the three members of Ryan's Fancy decided to pursue separate careers. Denis Ryan, who now makes his home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has since been working in the investment business. He is involved with munity projects including serving as the national chairman of the mittee of the D'Arcy McGee Chair of Irish Studies at St. Mary's University. Denis graduated from Memorial University in St. John’s with an degree in Folklore in 1981 and in 1994 he received an Honarary degree, Doctor of Letters, from St. Mary's University in Halifax. Denis is also the founder of Nova Scotian Crystal, located on the Halifax waterfront. It is the only mouth-blown, hand-cut pany in North America. However, his interest in music has never waned. He was the host of CBC's nationally televised show "Up On the Roof". He has appeared at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax with Symphony Nova Scotia and hosted the spectacular Symphony Explosion at the Halifax Metro Centre in 1996, which raised over $150,000 for the Symphony. Denis continues to emcee many charitable and other events.
SIGNED CD BY DENIS RYAN. “Let Me Fish Off Cape St. Mary’s” is Denis Ryan’s third solo album. Recorded in Ireland, at Dermot O’Reilly’s “Piper Stock Productions” in Torbay, Newfoundland, and in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the CD contains some of Denis’ favourite songs. Graphic design for the CD is by Lillian Fidler of Lillian Fidler Design with the CD cover photo by Denis Minty and the painting on the inside cover of Cape St. Mary’s was donated by Jerry Squires. All proceeds from the sales of the CD will be donated to the Friends of Cape St. Mary’s, a non-profit organization which helps promote Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve in all facettes.
