Up for sale is a classic 2014 Cervelo R5 SL Racing Bike. Part of a private collection this es with upgraded spoke racing wheels. This bike is in virtually like new condition and has been in dry storage since new. This bike has been carefully inspected and tested by a reputable bike shop and operates flawlessly. The R5 frame weighs, Cervelo claims, 808 grams, 18 grams less than the previous R5. The new bike improves torsional stiffness in the headtube by 15-percent and 9.5-percent in bottom bracket stiffness. Cervelo says that the Rca is a further 10-percent stiffer in the bottom bracket, but that the headtube on both bikes is about the same. This bike with upgrades would have originally sold for around $10,000. Customized Cervelo R5 SLs have been used in Tour De petitions with various upgrades. The new R5 es paired with a new, slightly curved fork, that's laterally stiffer than the old R5's fork, but has more fore/aft give, delivering a smoother ride. The new bike uses Cervelo’s typical metal insert with star nut (the assembly is bonded in place after the steerer is cut to length), which pany says is a safer and stronger way to manage headset preload and stem-clamping forces than mon designs.
