Notice: The annual club coin show and bourse ing soon! Mark your calendar and plan to attend this popular event. There will be a social time and auction of approximately 100 numismatic items held Saturday evening, May 20th, from 6PM until 9ish. All are e. And the Club show and bourse will be held Sunday, May 21st, from 9AM to 3PM, at the Best Western Conference Centre, 150 Willow Street in Truro, with 40 tables of sellers and buyers from across the Maritimes. If you are interested coins, tokens, bullion, paper currency and more, this is the place to be to see and learn about collecting. Admission Sunday is three dollars for adults,, kids are free and given free starter packages of coins. There will be fabulous door prizes.
The next regular monthly meeting of the Central Nova Coin Club is scheduled for June 5th. Regular meetings of the Central Nova Coin Club are scheduled for 7 PM on the first Monday of each month throughout the year. Meetings are held in the large meeting space at the Truro Recreation Department Building (former Douglas Street School), 40 Douglas Street in Truro. Visitors are e.
The regular meetings begin with a mini auction of coins, tokens or paper currency brought in by members. Visitors are e to participate. Payment by cash only please. Then there will be a short business meeting to deal with club activities, followed by an informational program on some aspect of numismatics. Department of Health protocols will be in effect and those who wish to wear masks are encouraged to do so.
There will be club members present who are knowledgeable and happy to appraise old coins, tokens and paper currency, and provide a free estimate of their value. You should always know the value of your collectable items before you part with them. It is wise to obtain an appraisal from a numismatist or a local collector you know and trust.
Always BEWARE of the outfits with fancy advertising that flit into town for a day and only pay a very small percentage of what a coin is actually worth. We have heard so many horror stories of people who have been ripped off. DO NOT BECOME VICTIM OF THESE UNSCRUPULOUS OUTFITS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW THE TRUE VALUE OF YOUR COIN.
CLUB TIP : -Never, NEVER clean or polish old coins; polishing will ruin the collectable value. Too many coins with potential value have been ruined by someone trying to make the coin shine.
