Selling an ultra-lightweight Langford Prospector 16'6" Canoe in carbon fiber layup. Needs work!
I bought this canoe with some substantial damage to it, with the aim of fixing it up as a lockdown project, during COVID. Other things got in the way, and I haven't been able plete it. Now the chance to own an ultralight carbon fibre canoe for less than $5000 is yours!
Details: This boat is originally manufactured with a foam diamond hull (foam sandwiched between c.f. to form the rigid hull), but the c.f. had cracked, so I removed the diamond and the half-ribs, and began to cut out the splintered sections of the hull. My plan was to next form new ribs by shaping some thin foam insulation with a heat gun, epoxy them to the hull, and then glass over them (with c.f.). I even bought a roll of carbon fibre (3m²), which I can add for $200. (Similar to this, but 1m x 3m ) This is not a beginner project, but with the right attitude and some patience, this will be a fantastic, lightweight tripping canoe for the right person.
