We bought this chair new in May 2020, for my 92 year old mother, and we were very pleased with it. It was Broda’s latest model and its many innovative features made for easy use and a fortable chair for my mom. Here’s what made it great:
The chair is adjustable in many ways, to fit the size of the person using it and to adjust their position in the chair. The photos show a few of many possibilities. It can tilt and recline, and the feet/leg positions can be raised and lowered, all by simply squeezing small hand levers and moving the chair to the desired position. Positions vary from sitting straight up to lying almost flat out, and the transitions are smooth and easy. The horizontal arm rests can be raised or lowered, as well as the vertical shoulder/ arm supports, to adjust to the height and width of the person’s torso and length of their arms. The foot/ leg supports are also adjustable for leg length.
All the cushions are fortable and designed to prevent sores from developing. (My mom remained free of sores during 18 months of daily use.) The bum pillow is a “roho” cushion, consisting of several inflatable cells whose pressure can be easily adjusted. A small hand pump (included) allows you to add air to and thus adjust the firmness of the cushion. The back rest has lumbar support.
An extra head pillow is held on by snaps and can be flipped back behind the chair or even removed. All cushions can be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth and can be easily removed for cleaning the frame. The es with two extra seat covers, brand new and still in the package.
The large back wheels and single front wheels allow for smooth and easy rolling, whether indoors or outside.
The back wheels are easily locked into place with brakes on each side (shown in photo). There are two pockets, one on each side under the arm rest, where items can be stored eg. extra tissues, water bottle, candies, etc. There are small, anti-tip wheels that attach to the back of the chair (not shown) which can be easily re-installed.
Size of the chair: Cushion width is 16” and depth is 18.” This is mon size. If you have a physiotherapist or occupational therapist helping you, they can tell you if this is the right size for the chair's occupant.
The chair was used for 18 months, at our own home. My mother was lightweight and we took good care of the chair, so the chair and all its parts are in excellent condition. Please contact us for further info or to purchase the chair.
