Antique French Petit Point Embroidered Picture, Original Frame, under Glass. This large picture has been skillfully done in petit point on canvas, using various colour and thickness threads. It depicts a scene derived from rococo style paintings ca 1760's), showing two ladies dressed in period crinolines and resting by a remembrance monument in the park. They seem to be involved in some conversation, the scene is posed with many details in the foreground and fluffy clouds pictured on the blue sky in the background. The faces of the two ladies have been embroidered with thinner silk thread and we can see a nice detail in them. Colours are vibrant and well preserved under the glass pane. The wooden framing is original and features triple grooving along the inside of frame, preserving original shades of green paint finish. Under the glass there's golden hard paper matting in very good condition. The picture dates probably from the beginning of 20th century, and is in very good antique condition; there are no stains or fading nor any repairs to the embroidery. The bottom outside of the wooden frame shows a little bit of wear which is only consistent with the age of this object and doesn't take away from its great appearance or value.
