A Girl of the Limber Lost; Gene Stratton-Porter. Hodder and Stoughton Limited., London. Printed in Great Britain by Butler & Tanner Ltd., Frome and London. There is no date in the book, but research suggested 1909. Certainly very early 1900. Hardcover, red cloth boards with lettering. 384 pages. No markings on any pages. Clearly there is a lot of wear, but the pages are tight. There is what is called foxing (coloring and spots) and a small area where there is what looks like mold, but it doesn't show when pages are opened. I tried to show the condition in the photos. I copied the following bit about the author from an internet site called : "About the Author: Gene Stratton-Porter (1863–1924) was an American author, amateur naturalist, wildlife photographer, and one of the earliest women to form a movie studio and pany. She wrote some best-selling novels and well-received columns in national magazines, such as McCalls. Her works were translated into several languages, including Braille, and Stratton-Porter was estimated to have 50 million readers around the world. She used her position and e as a well-known author to support conservation of Limberlost Swamp and other wetlands in the state of Indiana. Her novel A Girl of the Limberlost was adapted four times as a film, most recently in 1990 in a made-for-TV version". The books measurements are approximately 7 x 5 inches.
