This item is generally used for storing oddly shaped goods, to protect from dust and humidity etc. 4 mil tubing is heavy duty and should be adequate for almost any storage related purpose.
The material is food safe, it can also be used for storing meat in a freezer.
As for myself, I purchased this item for growing mushrooms. The process was this: I cut off about 5' of tubing, stuffed it with straw, then colonized the straw logs with pearl oyster mycelium in order to grow pearl oyster mushrooms. Approximately 15' of the tubing has been used for this purpose. The mushroom experiment was fun but it is not possible to continue at this time.
