Don't be enticed to huge RAM and puters - this puter was used as a file server! Also, we used it for Word processing, and as edy slide show. It never maxed the 3 GB of (DDR2) RAM.

This is perfect for a Student who only needs e-Mail, Word processing, etc. If you install 10.11 (the highest OS it can operate on), you can browse on-line better. Yes, with the installed 10.6.8, you can browse on-line, but many sites won't work with the old browsers now.

* 80 GB hard drive: if you are not storing thousands of photos and movies, you don't even need 80 GB. One of puters has a 15 GB SSD in it (yes, 15 GB!), and it runs great - LOTS of free space! The OS only uses about 6 GB .... the rest is empty.

So, if you think puter is for you, it's $80. If you want a larger HD, I can put in a 160, 320, 500 or 1 TB drive for $22-$40 extra, and if you want 10.11 installed, I can do that, too. This iMac's features include: Built in camera Firewire USB ports External display port (use TWO monitors) Audio IN jack, as well as headphones out stereo jack.

NOTE: This has "iWork", Apple's free "office" suite. Keynote (slide show - we used it all the time), Numbers (spreadsheet) and Pages (desktop publishing and work processing). It also has FireFox (web browser), and of course, chess. You should have your children play CHESS - it's GREAT!

Photo was taken in dark light, then lightened in Gimp - it actually looks BEAUTIFUL, and the display is EXCELLENT and bright (photo 2). Photos 3--5 are the config screen captures.

FINAL NOTE: $70 is for the CPU and power cord only. If you want mouse and keyboard, those are extra. I can do $15 for both (total $85).
