1988 Merkur (mare-COOR) Scorpio. Opportunity to own a very rare German luxury car.
I am the fourth owner, the original owner lived in Fremont, California and had the car until 2015. It went through two more collectors (Windsor, ON area), before I bought it in 2020. Car has 85K miles (~138K km), on the odometer. I have a metric speedometer if you want to change over. The outdoor temperature sensor has already been converted to Celsius (original Fahrenheit version included with the spare parts), the automatic temperature control panel can be switched between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
This vehicle needs nothing, get in and drive it anywhere. Original paint. Underside is a clean as the body. ZERO rust (body or underside).
The two previous owners as well as myself kept this vehicle in a climate controlled garage. Never seen snow or winter other than through the garage window.
Comes with a detailed service history from new. Huge catalogued and labelled inventory of spare parts, two factory service manuals, factory vacuum and electrical troubleshooting manual, large format wiring diagram and diagnostic tester.
In many ways the car was ahead of its time and came with the following;
Front engine rear wheel drive – 2.9L V6 with 145HP, electronic fuel injection and a 4 speed overdrive automatic. This is the same engine used in the Ford Ranger and Bronco II in the mid 80s.
Independent front suspension (MacPherson Strut), independent rear suspension with coil springs
Power four wheel disc brakes with ABS, 15” alloy wheels (w/new tires), including the spare tire
Fuel / Trip Computer, cruise control, tilt / telescopic steering wheel, bulb failure monitor
Automatic temperature control with air conditioning (pressor and converted to R134a in 2015)
Power sun roof, steering, windows and door locks (w/keyless entry)
Outdoor temperature display with black ice warning
Tinted glass, remote fuel door release
Power leather seats; front 6 way with inflatable bolsters
Two way power rear seats are 60 / 40 split and can fold flat for carrying larger loads.
AM / FM stereo cassette (original) with 6 speakers
Intermittent wipers front and rear, rear window defogger
Driving lights plus fog lamps
MVI until April 2025. Asking price; $15,000 or best offer. No trades please.
Why am I selling? I have a new project and it is time for a new caretaker to enjoy this vehicle.
