1958 MGA 1500 Roadster. This is an honest unmolested car in excellent condition. Purchased by current owner in 1987, and restored in 1988. At a time when clean parts were difficult to source, this restoration was made possible through a personal connection with Dana Corp automotive parts supplier and British Leyland. The car was rebuilt with new, original MG parts and technicians.
Body is solid and rust-free, paint is older but has been well taken care of. Interior is serviceable, also very original and tidy. Soft top and frame in very good condition. Mechanically well sorted, starts, runs, brakes very well. Low mileage and has been lightly used over 3 decades by the current owner, and always carefully and lovingly serviced and maintained.
All interior switchgear is original and fully functional. Electrical system is original including 6V positive ground system, recent battery and ponents operate as they should, even if primitive as they were in this era. Dash pletely original and tidy. Original radio block-off plate present, as is an original radio which is not installed es with the car.
Upholstery on seats is functional fortable, but could be renewed. Interior carpeting is similar.
Paint is good to excellent. Some areas of orange peel, one blemish on the right rear quarter. Rivets showing through the paint at the front edge of the bonnet. Overall she shows beautifully and the paintwork shines on this older restoration. Brightwork is all present and in fine condition. Some pitting on the front and rear bumpers. Front grille intact and original, one dent on the top section of the grille. Rubber seals are either original or from late-80’s and some are showing their age more than others.
Soft top, frame and side curtains all original and fine condition. Top raises and lowers perfectly and fits well. One small hole in the soft top.
Running gear has always been carefully serviced. Engine had significant engine service including a professional valve job in 1986 at AE Motors in London, ON. Approximately 9,000 miles have been put on the vehicle since. Brakes and suspension all functional, proper, regularly and recently serviced. Original steel wheels and centre caps are lovely and in great condition mechanically and cosmetically. Original spare wheel/tire included. She is a fine running and driving car that can go anywhere today, without worry.
This is a terrific opportunity to acquire a solid original and honest vintage MGA. As the saying goes “they are only original once” and this one is about as close to original as e. Can be seen in south Etobicoke. Local buyer preferred but will assist with shipping for out-of town buyer. 2017 appraisal available to view in person as well as the MTO UVIP from 2018. A current Ontario UVIP e with the car.
