You will grab everyones attention driving down the road in this beauty. While most U.S. automobile makers were following a bigger is better philosophy Nash Motor Company executives were examining the market to offer American buyers an economical transportation alternative. The Metropolitan was designed in the U.S. and it was patterned from a concept car the NXI(Nash Experimental International) that was built by Detriot based independent designer William J. Flajole for Nash-Kelvinator. It was designed as the second car in a two-car family for Mom taking the kids to school or shopping or Dad to drive to the railroad station to ride to work: muter/shopping car with resemblance to the big Nash but the scale was tiny as the Mets wheelbase was shorter than the Volkswagen Beetles. The Nash Metropolitan was introduced in 1955 and was ahead of its time in many ways. The idea of a small, economical car was not at the top of the popularity list in the ‘50’s, but this es at a size and with fuel economy that would actually fit today’s market. This is the hardtop version, there was also a convertible. This ‘57 features an engine that is slightly larger than the one first introduced, and the two-tone paint treatment is another feature to distinguish later models. Metros are loved and collected today, and there are Metropolitan clubs and shows.

This beauty has a 1498 cc 4-cylinder engine with three-on-the-tree transmission. The rear mounted spare tire gives this little gem a classy look. This 1957 Nash Metropolitan is a real head turner and will draw a crowd wherever you happen to venture.

1957 AMC Nash Metropolitan Coupe 2 door, hard top, 25,000KMs, Standard transmission - 3 on the tree. Runs like a top, new tires, rebuilt transmission, otherwise original other than paint. Radio works, gas gauge and speedometer don't. Could use a headliner, and rear wheel well covers. No seatbelts as originally from the factory.
