Over the years and still to this day, there have been many VW conversion kits transforming a beetle body to the street rod look. They are typically fiberglass add ponents that use the VW pan, transaxle and engine. They sound like a Volkswagon! This '37 Ford Custom Cabriolet takes that conversion to a whole new level! Hundreds of hours have been spent planning and building this car. The builder used the VW cowl and doors but mated them to all steel, 1937 Ford front and rear body sections. That assembly was channeled over the frame from a 1983 Nissan 1/4 ton. The front end is fully adjustable torsion bars with power steering. The rear end is eight inch Ford mounted on parallel leaf springs. The chassis was fitted with a 350 cubic inch V-8 from a 1970 Camaro. It has an RV cam with aluminum four barrel hi rise intake and carb. The automatic transmission is a Turbo 350 with a shift kit. The full dual exhaust runs through manifolds and has the car sounding like a street rod should! The bo gives the car lots of power as well. The all steel body is finished in a multi colour, custom paint scheme. It has roll up windows that fit the detachable convertible top in case one gets caught in a shower. The rear fenders are fitted with vintage Ford teardrop tailights and the front end has a custom grill and bumper. The front wheels are 19" X 9" with 2.45 - 40 tires while the rear tires are brand new 2.85 - 35's on 19" X 11" wheels. The charcoal black interior has bucket seats with a Lokar shifter and boot. The steering column is topped off with a vintage looking Banjo wheel. No, this is not a vintage, factory Ford cabriolet hot rod but it does not have the sixty to eighty thousand dollar price tag and it's steel! This is a fun, driveable car with all the curb appeal of the high dollar trailer queens. All of es at an asking price of $42,000.00. I am open to negotiating price with a serious buyer.
