180hp mid-engine highly modified Legend racecar

Great for TrackDays, Club Racing, HillClimb, Solo & Autocross

1996 Legend Chassis #3515. Power by Yamaha Viper 696cc. Wheelbase stretched to 96 inches for stable handling on road course. No twitching! Chassis and body widened 13 inches to modate transverse mid-mount motor.

No sound sweeter than two-stroke triple at 8,000 rpm. Highly modified Ian Tomassi Mikuni carbs. Tim Bender triple tuned pipes. Tomassi modified head. EGT gauge on each exhaust pipe installed at power valve. Two water temp gauges for cool water flowing in at bottom and hot ing out of head. Fresh, one hours test running. Motor had 650 miles on it when bought at auction, then did overhaul/modification. Estimate 180hp.

Power drives through Yamaha snowmobile VRT belt clutches to 530 chain sprocket allowing multiple final drive ratios by changing small sprocket or big sprocket. Solid spool in the center has two double-row high speed bearings. Power input on the right side of spool through the big sprocket. Brake caliper on the left side of the spool squeezes drilled stainless steel disc with Wilwood caliper. Same calipers front and rear brakes.

Front suspension inboard coil-over-shocks with MiniSprint aluminum uprights and hubs. Ten-inch discs with Wilwood 4-piston calipers. Single Wilwood 4-piston caliper inboard at rear spool. Twin Wilwood master cylinders with balance bar.

IRS from LeGrand Formula Ford. LeGrand aluminum uprights machined for VW stub axles and bearings. Uses special VW dune buggy CV joints with 42 degrees angularity. Inboard suspension at all four corners consists of a vertical rod pushing butterfly arm which pushes inboard shock/coil. Ride height adjusted by vertical rods. Six positions on butterfly wings. Five custom built swaybars range from half-inch diameter up to one-inch diameter. All swaybars fit both front or rear. Lots of adjustment options.

Rear wing and Front aluminum air dam. Windshield laid back against cage A-pillars. Chassis/cage much much stronger than stock Legend. Triangles everywhere you look. Chassis and all metal parts powder coated. Kirky aluminum seat. Pyrotech belts. Removable steering wheel. Five-gallon fuel cell.

REAR tires - Three seven inch-wide 13-inch Kaiser split aluminum wheels with Toyo 206/60R-13 86V RA1. FRONT tires - Three 5.5 inch wide 13-inch genuine LeGrand FF magnesium 6-pound wheels with Toyo 185/60R-13 80V RA1.

SPARES - 1 halfshaft with 2 new dune buggy 47 degree CV joints installed. - Another spare halfshaft without CVs. -Big sprocket currently installed is 70-tooth. Also new 60-tooth and new 80-tooth. Numerous small sprockets from 11-tooth to 15-tooth. - Spare transverse shaft. - 1 Spare Yamaha primary clutch and 2 spare ArcticCat secondary clutches for deeper gearing. They need Yamaha splined hubs installed. - Complete front suspension corner assembled and ready to install, with aluminum upright, hub and brake disc. Right or left. - Complete rear suspension corner assembled and ready to install with LeGrand aluminum upright, VW bearings and stub axle. Right or left. - Many brand new suspension pieces, aluminum arms, heim joints, - Spare ECU - Four fiberglass fenders and 2 extra Viking fiberglass nose cones - Spare windshield still in wraps - Quick jack for rear bumper - Manual corner weight scales

DRIVING - Spent 12 years and a small fortune building it. Proved I could build it. Drove it fast for a few laps, so proved it works. Car is faster than the 2-litre 911S I raced for ten years. Now I’m an old man and probably should sell it before I get hurt.

NOTE – Desperation Sale. Doctor won’t sign medical, so what am I to do with a fresh $30,000 racecar? Final test session last year rad hose burst & fried all three pistons. Asking $6,000 as is or $8,000 with fresh engine. Car in Winnipeg.
