I personally mend at minimum 3-4 pounds for best playing and building ability (as a Lego starter kit or add-on pack), with 8-10 pounds being a nice sized collection of Lego for a typical child, and up to 20 or more pounds for the serious Lego-obsessed builder's collection! The more you order, the better overall variety of piece size and type you will receive!
